Define Yourself podcast guest Beth Jones

In Part 1 of 2, of the Define Yourself podcast, host Ellin Sidell welcomes, Beth Jones, whose journey from trauma to transformation is nothing short of inspiring. Beth, an empowered survivor, shares her incredible story of overcoming past abuse and trauma, unlocking her true identity, and ultimately finding her life’s purpose. Her experiences have fueled her passion for helping others heal, materialized in her forthcoming book Becoming An Empowered Survivor You, Too, Can Heal From Trauma and Abuse and the creation of the Empowered Survivors Community. Beth's message is encapsulated in her powerful acronym HEAL: Hope, Evolve, Action, and Love, offering a beacon of guidance to those seeking their own pathways to healing.

Life Defining Transformations

Beth begins by recounting the personal and professional transformations that defined her life. About four years ago, following a particularly life-altering event during a hypnotherapy session, Beth embarked on an intensive healing journey. Although she had been seeking therapy for years with few conscious connections to her traumatic past, this session served as the catalyst that brought everything into focus. Her childhood trauma, hidden deep within her subconscious, was unraveled in this pivotal moment. This newfound awareness led Beth to remove the “masks” she wore for years—labels and identities imposed by society—and embrace her true self. Having navigated decades in a successful forensic accounting career, Beth realized her life's purpose now was to leverage her experience to aid others in their healing journeys.

Understanding of Self

Listeners are treated to Beth’s engaging and comprehensive explanations of her coping mechanisms during her years as a professional. Ellin and Beth discuss the significant transition from leading a life driven by survival instincts to a life enriched with a deeper understanding of self. Beth candidly shares how her travel-heavy career not only flourished during times of personal chaos but also served as a form of escape, a response to her internal conflicts. This pattern of “flight” played a critical role in her journey towards self-discovery and from trauma to transformation. In this space of awareness, Beth created her HEAL framework to guide trauma survivors. Through self-discovery and grace, Beth has embraced her identity as a survivor and now works as a healing mentor, leading by example and inspiring others to realize that they too can heal and transform their lives.
